Assigment 2 (Media Art Design 1) Update

Black and white
Coloured
These are the composition I came up with after much thought. I was inspired by the futuristic and grunge theme so I combined them together. Below are my inspiration for the futuristic theme. The color pallete chosen was for the typography to be orange as it gives a futuristic vibe and purplish with grunge texture as to enhance the dark feel plus hints of bright lights.

For the coloured version of the composition, I used quiet a bunch of stock textures. So here, I am going to mention each of them.

Assignment 2 (Media Art Design 1)

Sketches 1
Sketches 2
These are the sketches that I came up with for the typographic poster. From the sketches I managed to figure out the emotions and composition. Also, initially I chose Aristotle Punk typeface and realised it does not show the verb quality. So, I chose Copperplate Gothic Bold as the new typeface.

And this is the composition that I managed to achieve. I decided to come out with a futuristic grungy look afterwards for the color pallete.

3D Modelling Hands-On

This is my first attempt of modelling an object in 3ds Max. I got to admit its tedious but fun, yeah :)
Its an assignment for university, and I still trying to figure my way around the software.
I have chosen to model a headphone (my beloved headphone <3).
Headphone's headpiece and earpiece.
I'm using the 3-year student license from Autodesk. You can get yours here.

Favourite shadows from the cube sculpture

The colour and soft shadows

The dynamic looking

Dynamic and whole

One of the reasons I chose these pictures as my favourites from the rest is that it just capture my attention. Secondly, the shadows are subtle and soft. As I was experimenting with the light, the shadows look like infinity and just intrigued me. Overall, I like how it turns out to be.

Artist Statement

The fonts used for my design was Old English Text MT and Sketchy. I love how elegant the cursive of the alphabet of Old English Text MT and I use the Sketchy typeface to balance it. I put the box and the light source in different angle. I also tied a string and suspended the box in the air and cast lighting on top of it. After the photoshoot, I found out that the most intriguing angle was the bottom. It casts a dynamic like shadow on the screen. Finally, I would suggest putting this box in a personal room where you relax and wants a serene atmosphere. The lighting angle would be best from the bottom as it will casts shadow on the ceiling and the walls. For best effect, use dim lighting.

Day 4

Today, I did my work late as I have to fulfill some promises.
But, I managed to do my work nevertheless.

I set this up for the shadow play.
Before lights on
Lights ON! XD

From mounted light results

This is unprocessed yet. Just want to show it here though :)
I also unmounted the light and put it in different angle. I say the effects are much dynamic and oh-awesome :D

Favourite number 1

Favourite number 2

Needless to say, there's some finishing up I have to do. Then, it'll be the end of Assignment 1 for Media Arts Design 1. More updates later :D

Day 3 (update)

I have finished putting together the cube sculpture. I used the UHU glue, as it was the most suitable adhesive at the moment. Later on, it will be installed under a light and we will see the shadow effects from it. :3

Cube sculpture

Day 3 (new process)

I forgot to post for day 1 and 2 so,

Day 1
Sent design draft for consultation to my lecturer, Madam Forest.
She chose this one! :)

Day 2
I work on the design and printed it out.

On to Day 3 :D
Today, (and last night)
I spent 5 hours to cut out the design to make the cube sculpture.
As I was cutting I realised it was very fragile. Still thinking on how to reinforce the sculpture.
And right now I'm still cutting. We'll see how it goes.
Still cutting it out.

Hit

Then it hit me. Some of my school teachers are racist. I will send the generation after me to go learn from them.
